Buck-Tik are pretty solid too btw.

Although, even they have that aura of Japanese cheese about them.

Last Gazette was fine cuz it's Diru-lite. Other solid bands still going would be Gotsu-Totsu-Kotsu (death metal), Ningen-Isu (doom/heavy metal).

B-T are steeped into the J-rock sound, albeit done better than anyone else.

Just my opinion, but I find that most Jap bands - with the exception of Diru - that attempt metal, translates a bit too sour and corny to me. It doesn't help that their culture thrive so heavily on image as well. But, then, I think they do a fucking amazing job with rock/blues stuff.

That can be true for the popular ones. Anyway, you can give a try to the two I've mentioned.

Not massive on Ningen-Isu, but, damn, Gotsu-Totsu-Kotsu is really good!

That aura is extremely faint in Buck-Tick's case, honestly; sometimes to the point where I can't sense it in the slightest. They're such a wondrous ensemble, man!

To me there is absolutely none minus a few songs, and those songs have some of their best performances ever (e.g. Jupiter, Sekai wa Yami de Michite Iru and Gensou no Hana).

Speaking about most listened Japanese band, I have Ling Tosite Sigure and Dir En Grey on the top of my list.

And yes, I know most of you guys don't like TK's vocal. I found it fits their music nonetheless.

My most listened to Japanese band...and well band in general is Buck Tick by a good margin. Yes I will admit shitting on TK's vox is a hobby of mine :P

This band's obviously on the top of my list alongside Maximum the Hormone, Buck-Tick, and X Japan. Gazette I just listen to for the hell of it and I enjoy Guniw Tools largely because of Other Goose.
