Took a lot of listens for me to love the second half as much as the first.

Lol I can imagine Dev relishing writing average lyrics sometimes just to piss us off...

Re the second half, for me the fluke and tiny tears are potentially the best songs on here, along with deep peace and Canada. Ah screw it, they're all amazing

Yeah and even when his lyrics are silly he can still make them work in non-silly contexts and I think that is a real skill. Like the ambient part after the solo in tiny tears is one of the most beautiful things I've heard but the lyrics are still pretty dumb

Lol my fave is "I think, I guess, I know, I think, I know, FUCK OFF" that made me laugh so hard the first time I heard

"Stagnant" is one of the best songs about depression/suicide I have ever heard.

My favorite singular lyric would probably come from "The Fluke".

Yeah see this is what I was talking about, that bit after the NANANANA bit in fluke is beautiful as hell but I swear he's singing about masturbating?

I don't actually understand how a song can be as good as deep peace is

+ that bit towards the end of Canada where the wall keeps building up until it drops out like an inhalation and he says "Canadian freeway" and the guitars come back in --- might be the best ever Devin moment.

+ The buildup before and release of the "IT'S OIL" part

I think the chanting section bookmarked by those amazing short solos and then the singing section following in the fluke is probably my favourite Dev moment. Words don't suffice

It's unreal to think that these ideas all came out of the head of one man. Honestly having written songs before it blows my mind how his brain could even conceive anything like this. Truly truly gifted

It's late, I'm pissed and idgaf but I just had to come here to say that deep peace is by far the most beautiful piece of music ever written and I dare anyone go disagree

Pig bruv, do you commute on the train? Seems like this would be incomparable for watching the world pass by the windows
