Country recs, jeff? generally don't like country, so this was a really nice surprise

traditional country (hank williams, louvin brothers, early cash) isn't really my forte, but if you want alt country then lucinda williams (car wheels on a gravel road) and uncle tupelo (march 16-20, 1992) are good places to start, as well as ryan adams' debut and the last two albums with whiskeytown (esp. stranger's almanac)

Gave that Lucinda Williams song a shot and it's not really my thing. I'm not quite sure what about this that does it for me. Probably the phenomenally breezy and ambient production and che's charming voice

ok, i've given a couple more a go now. Whilst I don't think this is the be all and end all, I do think it has some excellent tracks on it. As for "country", I don't think you can compare the stuff you showed me and this. It just has a different finesse about it that sets it apart from what you look for in traditional country or the alt-country stuff. besides, i'm not a fan of the most country-esque song on this anyway (Code)

uncle tupelo is the shit but i always thought everything ryan adams did outside whiskeytown was drivel

The atmosphere and the style of this album is unbeatable. Can't believe how perfectly Devin Townsend and company

pulled off a 'space country' sound

I love how Che's voice is produced to have a breezy sound to it; it really adds to the quality and texture of her voice

Changed my rating on there to a 5 to help mitigate the damage done by naysayers who know not how to chill.
