There has been a few rumors that Rudess's interest in DT is waning, thoughts?

Scenes is the only album I really dig his playing on. He does great on that

I really enjoy everything Rudess does on Endless Sacrifice and In The Name of God and I think he's a bit understated on those tracks

@Eva I wouldn't be too surprised.

Likewise. Maybe he's had enough of excessive noodling. I think it could be a good think as long as the band don't get a replica for him as replacement

He holds himself back I feel with DT. He's fidgeting with all these other instruments like the harpejji that he doesn't use in DT. Of course some of his synth playing is extremely generic and tiresome. I would love it if he played the organic intruments

His playing was the most generic in the s/t so makes sense

I'd say he's the most sonically experimental out of the bunch and it shows through song intros e,g Behind The Veil, On The Backs of Angels. But yeah, I definitely get the feeling he's being held back by the band too
Needs more Hurdy Gurdy if you ask me

DT would probably find a replica, the newer fans wouldn't be able to handle less wankery. Plus they'd
have to play Rudess' material live. I don't see him joining any other band, and his solo material
wouldn't sell even close to DT stuff. Not sure he would leave

@ChoccyPhilly He did some really good work on those songs.
And yeah, it seems like Rudess's playing has begun taking a backseat as well, which sucks because they can utilize him for so much more than he's been doing. This was probably his best album

It's a shame cause he shined so well on adtoe without portnoy ruling over everything

Thise choirs during the chorus of Bridges in the Sky and it's instrumental section shave tasty Rudess stuff.
DT should release a jazz fusion album, or a Heritage type album. Not innovative but it would be refreshing for DT

Their version of Heritage would be great. Kinda like FII, but without the shite and with more 70's influences

Hey I'll take anything different at this point

He's great on the liquid tension albums. And FII is brilliant in all its cheese. It's enjoyable, which DT have not been for a while.

FII has 5 some really great songs for sure

I've enjoyed FII pretty much from the first listen. I can understand why people don't like it, but I've enjoyed all the songs on it, yes yes even you not me. Plus the fact that the production is pretty good as is the mix, and you have yourself a good album. Anyway I'm not getting into the FII debate, no point

Kinda just feels like them being themselves without trying too hard. It was pretty hit or miss, but I'd want another FII any day

@Omair: Yeah, I definitely agree FII is underrated, but it could've been so much better if it actually had all the songs they planned to put on it. I mean, have you ever heard the FII Demos? If only it had a better production, it would be one of their best definitely

Excluding WDADU, everything up to this had a lot of variety between them for DT albums. It's only after ToT did DT stop experimenting and made the same album, but worse, every 2 years
