i believe that if slipknot didn't start out as how they did (controversily DIFFERENT), then vol. 3 wouldn't have sounded like this.
this album was basically a fuck you to everyone.
they wanted to prove everyone that they are just so much into thier music and they can make it anyway they want it to be.

and for the 9 people stuff:
1. no one knows that paul (BASS [i'm not lying]) is basically the main song writer.
2. craig (samples) isn't completely useless since he expanded his arsenal with keyboards.
3. if you think MFKR's drum's was cool, that was just joey playing over shawn's (custom percussion, CLOWN) songs. joey didn't create the MFKR songs, he joined after they created some of the songs in MFKR.
4. pretty much every band member has their own side project bands

my point is these 9 guys just got together to make music that they wanted to enjoy. each of them has talent and those 'useless' members don't contribute on every song, but they make up for their intense shows.

anyway, i like this album, it's definately the best they got, but s/t still is one hell of an album. iowa is heavy as hell but not as a whole album. can't wait for the next album. (i am a fan but i view all the bands i enjoy as a open-minded person) i agree that it doesn't take that much to make music slipknot has created, but it's a band that was created on the 9 guys, not you.

Stone Sour shows the talent that Slipknot fails to have.

coery taylor actually sings most of the time on the album. there are guitar solos, and the band uses all of thier 5 members effectively

Indeed its their best effort...

BTW...No what he's saying is that he prefers good alternative rock over generally bland metal. This Message Edited On 10.17.06

When I saw Stone Sour's 30/30 I contemplated suicide, it really shows just how low the music industry has fallen. Slipknot's not amazing, but they kick the shit out of Stone Sour.

stone sour is a good band but it shouldn't be compared to slipknot because it's not close to slipknot. just imagine slipknot as a freaken monster, which can't be touched because they don't care. This Message Edited On 10.18.06

Um... no.

And apparently they do care since they tried to sue Burger King over a fictional band in a commercial.

Didn't hear about that one. Care to enlighten me?

Burger King had a product called chicken fries a couple years back. They advertised it with commercials using a fake shock rock band called Coq Roq that wore scary bird masks.

Slipknot sued, accusing Burger King of plagiarizing their gimmick. The case was dropped quietly.

It was dropped quality becus Slipknot wanted to make it outta that case without looking whinier than they had already proven...wut a stupid thing to sue over...

alright, i didn't know that. but there's nine guys in the band and it's probably clown that did that. corey taylor wouldn't care for stuff like that and he's busy with stone sour. i know the rest of the band isn;t that short tempered so it's mostly clown. and i think that as a whole band i think slipknot just doesn't care as long as they make music that they enjoy. as what corey puts it "people outside the 9 who enjoys our music is just a blessing, but it's our music and we'll create it in everyway we want it" eh something close to that. ok no more posting.
