I don't get why this is classified as doom metal. This record moves at a pretty fast clip for the most part. It's got a lot of styles going on that's really hard to pinpoint what genre it is besides sludge. I feel like every metalhead no matter what subgenere can get some enjoyment out of this. You can tell these guys had a diverse set of influences.

I feel like acid bath are called sludge because they’re from louisinna. This is all over the place

I heard this for the first time last month. I dunno who I'm going to offend by saying this but it's clear where Slipknot and Manson got their inspiration from. This is a good record, and I intend to spend more time with it.

Dunno about Manson but Corey Taylor is a pretty big fan of these guys and there were rumors about them reuniting with him as a vocalist

I’m not offended, slightly confused but err yeah maybe Slipknot could be if that’s accurate. Guess I just assumed they wouldn’t be aware of these guys. I realise Acid Bath are influential, but didn’t realise that influence filtered down into the ‘mainstream‘. Interesting.

Yeah Corey's distorted scream/croon combo does bear a resemblance to Dax

@Demon you can tell around Iowa they were listening to a lot of grindcore, DM and underground stuff. They were definitely a lot more brutal than their contemporaries

I heard Iowa quite a bit, but I never noticed any similarity with Acid Bath.

ok this wasn't what i was expecting but it's pretty sick regardless

it's got such a thick atmosphere feels so genuinely unnerving at times. also a lot of great riffs and variety, Scream of the Butterfly is a fantastic softer bit --- not ballad or interlude, what would you call that? just softer song?

I don’t know, I think ballad sums it up pretty well

Just a septic and deranged ballad.

And also a perfect one ☺️

There’s a picture of slipknots drummer wearing a pagean terrorism tactics shirt somewhere

Lol there was even a fake rumour where Corey would join them for a comeback. They're seminal af and def a lot of bands (nu metal ones fs) took inspiration on their sound, dynamics and insane, killerclown vibe.

Yall stop acting surprise since we talked about this on the other album s thread months ago XD

All love for gschwen and the bold take
