If you haven't heard it already I'd recommend Hunky Dory first but either way they're both classic albums.

ive sampled some bowie tracks before but the only album i ever really have dedicated a lot of time to is the man who sold the world. liking this one so far, though

Good stuff, Station To Station, Low, Heroes and possibly Diamond Dogs are also worth checking. After that some of his more underrated works like Outside, Earthling and Heathen are good places to go and than naturally the last stop is ★.

are there any other albums with the harder rock style of the man who sold the world?

For Bowie that's about as hard as it gets but his stuff with Tin Machine has a hard rock/noise rock style to it. Not everyone liked it but if that's what you're looking for you might. Other than that from his solo material I'd say Diamond Dogs is your best bet.
