Agree that Mighty rules. Especially following Deer, the contrast is terrific. And love how the energy flows naturally/carries over into Pensacola

Side note: can't help but feel like Virgin would've fit better on/improved COPE

Yeah everything about this is a 5/5

I proclaimed this to be like, the best album ever or something, when I reviewed it. Although that's clearly not the case, I still think it is in the conversation of the best alt-rock record spanning 2010-2017.

This is still easily their best work.

This is better than I remember. I hope they can follow up COPE with something much better because it was painfully average overall. Still feels weird that Freeman isn't in the band anymore.

AC, I'm real worried they won't.

I know it has 2 or 3 really good songs, but just the idea that Andy thinks that album was relentless and heavy makes me wonder where his head was/is at. Plus, his vocals we're kind of annoying pretty much throughout the entire album. Capable of so much more than simple repetitive chrouses.

i know they wanted to make a more stripped down album that simply rocks, but that doesnt mean you should half ass the guitar work and use the same fucking structure for every goddamn song.

I can't call it a disappointment because I only started getting into this band after cope/hope were both out, but it seemed like such a massive regression after this. It doesn't even have the dynamics of mean everything to nothing which was a pretty stripped down album to begin with

I was very disappointed considering the singles were good and, not to be that guy, I got into them when they were touring on I'm Like A Virgin- saw them with Kevin Devine and Brand New. It was legendary. I stumbled upon greatness.

I don't even know if they're working on an album.

They just posted a phone number to FB/Twitter that you can call and punch numbers between 0 and 9 at. Supposedly it's samples of new music, announcement coming a week from today

I'd say they are pretty even in quality, though prefer the style of METN.

New one's probably gonna be a lot like this if The Gold is anything to go off of
