kalk you also have to remember the Hand of Blood EP that got them to The Poison, the song Hand of Blood fucking exploded with popularity and then they took a couple songs from that EP and put it on the Poison, they were on a roll there to start. I think ego and rock god syndrome took over and just destroyed the creativity

yeah some of the lyrical content here didn't age particularly well and a few songs feel like they could've been scrapped. other than that, this is a genuinely solid record, and i've got high hopes for this new self-titled. apparently Parasite's gonna be a hell of a lot longer on the album and this is just an edit.

Didn't feel Parasite at all tbh. Maybe the full version will be better or more interesting or whatever. But these weird vocals and pre mature lyrics (at least they're not rapey, but still) drag it down for me, significantly

I think it has to do partly with the fact that they actually tried aping Eighteen Visions and Poison the Well riffs to a certain extent on this before deciding they were sick of doing that thus leaving only the mediocrity instead of being slightly tolerable. I'd guess the success of Tears Don't Fall probably was a big deciding factor in them no longer wanting to even try to play Hardcore riffs.
