God I love this album. I mean, I think it should've done without Find Your Love and MAYBE Over but even the other tracks that aren't very good on Drake's rapping (Miss Me, Unforgettable and Up All Night) are too catchy not to have fun with except for Nicki's verse.

Dude your assessment of the lyrics is pretty much a caricature of what people who don't listen to drake but still manage to detract from him is
Not saying that's not genuine but

if we're talking about certain songs i think "over" works really well in context somehow, i love how it contrasts with both a) the "chill" vibes and b) the sort of introspective "i don't like being famous" lyrics of the first three tracks and totally throws them into stark relief. i think drake put a lot of thought into where that song went. notice how the vibrating strings of "the resistance" lead so well into the sudden hook of "over," and also how "over" introduces a new layer of lyrical content (i.e. the first three songs are sort of melancholy about being famous, but then "over" [braggadocio] leads into "show me a good time," "up all night," and "fancy," which are all sort of the flipside of that melancholy)
every other song except one is completely great although i do like "find your love" less than i used to. the exception is "light up," which is not at all bad but i think it's sort of boring
|

oh also i love how the songs on this album don't really seem content with simply looping, he keeps adding new melodic motifs and changes in beat and atmosphere everywhere. "miss me" and "fancy" both do this really well
just talkin drake

I love how in a lot of the mixtape he basically did have that sorta smacks-of-unwarranted-egotism and on take care he acknolwedges it and is kinda like yeah that was a front. I like the self-awareness makes him much more likable

"the exception is "light up," which is not at all bad but i think it's sort of boring"
You crayy. Light Up has some of the best rapping and most introspective lyrics on this album.

"The-Dream is so much better than Drake"
I think Drake has a lot more dark melodies than The-Dream does, though they're both amazing and The-Dream definitely has a better voice.
