Ke$ha and Avril are really the female pop stars I can tolerate. Katy Perry to a far lesser extent.

This really isn't so awful at all. The singles are by far the most offensive tracks.

The singles are the best tracks. Most of the rest (with a few exceptions) are major filler. You should check out Cannibal, though. It's a lot more consistently good. Basically every song is gold.

@gabe: Not all of the album tracks were exactly good, but they were maybe just a little generic or boring if anything negative. "Tik Tok" and "Blah Blah" are atrocious. "Your Love Is My Drug" was the only single I liked. I'm pretty sure I will despise Cannibal based on your opinions of which songs are good and your overall rating of this.

How was Blah Blah Blah bad? It seriously might be one of the most well put-together pop songs I've heard, not to mention it was able to bring chiptunes (well, chiptune-imitating sawtooth synths) to the radio, and the lyrics are FULL of satire and commentary on the music industry. And Tik Tok is just fun as fuck.

Coming out your mouth with your blah blah blah
Zip your lips like a padlock
And meet me at the back with the jack and the jukebox
I dont really care where you live at
Just turn around boy and let me hit that
Don't be a little bitch with your chit chat
Just show me where your dick's at

I am not very smart apparently, as I see no satire or commentary on the music industry in the lyrics. it may just be too clever for me

It is. She's doing a gender role reversal and commenting on how a lot of male-to-female songs in the music industry are talking about treating women like meat, so she's doing a satire on it by treating men like objects only meant for sex.

i see. i get it now. that would be nice if more women agreed to treating men like objects only meant for sex though

I really, really, really, really hope you were just exaggerating to get some sort kind of point across. I'll just ignore that for now.

Anyway, the song. Yes, it's a gender role reversal. That doesn't excuse the terrible vocals and poor lyrics. It isn't some witty satire. If anything, all she is doing is reinforcing the idea that women are inferior when attempting to do things that men do.

Also, Tik Tok is the one with the so called "chiptune" beat. The actual instrumental portion of Blah is one of the most vapid, unimaginative combinations of four notes I've ever heard in a pop song (not an exaggeration).

The lyrics are like that purposefully and the harmonies she makes are fantastic, I don't see how the vocals are bad whatsoever.

"all she is doing is reinforcing the idea that women are inferior when attempting to do things that men do."

They both are, and that's odd considering I think it's done in one of the most creative, more well-composed ways I've heard.
