Nah it's one of the best alt-country albums ever.

It suffers from being too long for its own good

Normally I would agree with that kind of argument but it's just so damn consistent and in this case the sprawl makes it even more appealing, you can hear the band really discovering their genius and just putting everything out there, and it's all pretty great.

See I just get tired of that same old sound after a while

It's certianly less universally appealing than this or Summerteeth but as one who loves that kind of style (and I would actually argue that it is quite varied) Being There is a treasure trove.

I just really love Wilco guys

Like I was listening to AM the other day and even that has some really awesome tunes on it.

I do too, it's kind of embarrassing that I haven't. I should also check their live album.

If you ever get a chance to see them live (if you haven't before) do not pass it up. They are absolutely amazing live.

Damn, that sucks. Honestly, if you have the means, it might even be worth traveling to see a show. Idk quite how far you are from places they play, but I met someone at a Boston show who had flown in (I can't recall from where, but if they flew it must have been quite a distance) just for the show. But obviously if that's not practical for you then it's of course now worth it.

I might go if they come to Chicago. It's a 5 hour drive from here in Ohio.

Wilco is tagged experimental, but like this album really isn't all that experimental

Are other albums by them a lot more experimental or?

Then wtf lol why is this band considered experimental?

I mean don't get me wrong I love this album (strong 5 in fact), but it's mostly indie/americana

It's weird in spots, but not frequently enough for the word "experimental" to be relevant

they have a 15-minute song I guess that's why, also they started as like straight country I think so songs like I Am Trying to Break Your Heart are pretty experimental by that standard
