this is a really hard album to rate
when I first got it I thought it was God, no I rarely ever listen to it
maybe I should drop my rating

Never thought this was all that special to begin with. Simply Focus only less good

this and focus are actually not that similar, aside from the vocals, and I am pretty sure the only reason they kept the robot vocals on this was to keep a connection between this and focus.
That and its surprisingly pleasant and melodic.

his vocador, you mean? i still think it's funny that some people call this death metal.

ya that.
this isn't even close to death metal. the growls are more of a gimmick which is probably the only reason I don't give this a 5.
|
| |
i think it's borderline metal. people calling it anything above metal is stupid.

even though I hate the term, I'd have to say its progressive metal.

Album Rating: 4.5
I think the growls work fine; they don't detract from the album at all. I personally don't see how
this is death metal either. The way the riffs are constructed has nothing to do with metal at all.

the growls dont detract from the music at all, but they certainly don't add anything significant other than a throwback to focus.
Everybody talks about the riffs on this album but fail to recognize the virtuoso technique of Sean Reinert.

the drumming is nice.

Well Sean Reinhert is a fucking beast. He is obviously as important to the album as Paul is, in my opinion.

this isnt metal at all, save for a couple parts in the space for this

Sean Reinhert is only the best drummer in the universe

nah some of the parts in evolutionary sleeper and king of those who know are pretty metal.
|

i think malone is a little overlooked by people on this record. sure he's not as busy as on focus but he's got some damn sweet low tones on this though. great album.
|
| |
like i said: the drumming is excellent on this for the most part, and some cool jazz influences to be heard. i get why people like it i just think it's too... much of the same.
