Dash and Blast GOAT non-gybe post rock track?

It might be better than anything GY!BE has ever written

I love this album but let's not talk crazy here.

Nooooo haha it’s a post rock staple but it’s not nearly as otherworldly as GY!BE as their best.

i hate when people just throw around the word 'otherworldly'
but yea it kinda fits here

A couple of their tracks are close, although I certainly wouldn't put any of the GY!BE 'classics' over this album as a whole.

It’s just that there’s not many moments on here that make me surprised that it was actually made by human hands like on Skinny Fists and Infinity.

Those moments are just countless on those two for me, as amazing as this is.

I don't need music to sound 'alien' in order to elevate it beyond comparable pieces. GY!BE make some beautiful music, but also completely forget to use restraint when it matters.

I’m not saying that either, but I’m just saying it elevates it to no end

Gybe is just transcendent tbh. And that's a good use of the word transcendent. Artists like gybe, burial, boards of Canada transcend their genre

The different between this and GY!BE's classic albums is that this one's straight to the point. Great climaxes all along
On the other hand GY!BE has their awesome builds ups which might result in songs dragging on a little bit for some, but they also work to make of that climax something truly epic once it kicks in
Don't know if I'm making myself clear tbh

You are, I've just never felt the pay off was (quite) worth it, certainly not to be lauded as 'transcendent' or incomparable within their genre.
If I'm allowed Sigur Ros as a post-rock band (which I believe should be acceptable) then I'd give them that title, they truly are otherworldly.

idk about u guys but Illuminate has one of the best builds/climaxes in post rock

sigur ros have some masterpieces but they don't engage me like gybe does and they're kinda boring. maybe i'm just into bleak stuff but with gybe i almost forget i'm listening to music. i';m in a deep dark world of shit
also fallout is like the GOAT video game series and gybe is perfect for it

Damn why you got to say that about Sigur Ros & then follow it up with praise for my favourite gaming series. I’m conflicted now, haha
Different strokes I guess because I feel that way about Sigur & some of their material is actually quite bleak, although it’s probably more down to individual interpretation.

Early Sigur Ros can get pretty bleak, but there's warm, sublime beauty there too. Sigur Ros and first generation GY!BE are equally amazing, and some of the best music I've heard imo

i could never get a bleak vibe from sigur, they sound so innocent
maaaaybe a few cuts on ( ) and kveikur but otherwise they just make me smile

I was mainly thinking of Von and some of ( ), I guess Agaetis isn't that bleak now that I think about it; more weird and eclectic, at least in the middle.

People need to listen to more 90s post-rock
