I’ve never listened to an actual jazz album only albums with jazz elements but I feel like I need to hear this.

This one is not really a good starter album, but still amazing nevertheless

Which one would be the best starter?

For Miles' discography and jazz overall, 'Round About Midnight should do the trick. Better start than Kind of Blue since Kind of Blue has modal leanings, not seen in most starter jazz.

Solid album overall, but am I the only one that often finds myself leapfrogging over the title track to get to sides 3 & 4? The intro/outro is pretty iconic, in my opinion, but the body of the track doesn't tend to hold my interest.

I sense that the track's focus is on mood and atmosphere (I suppose that's true for sides 1&2) and it's marvelously eerie, but maybe it just carries on for too long for my taste. At the moment, I feel like "Pharaoh's Dance" is the more successful of the two sides. This does seem like the most challenging (and probably most rewarding) section of the album, though, so I may just need to give it time and few more listens.
