Without Cedric, neither ATD-I or TMV would be half of what they were or are.

Nah dude, Omar is The Mars Volta. He just lets Cedric sing.

Yeah, to understand this band you need to see how they performed live.

His vocals are fucking awesome. They get me pumped, while subtley sparking a feeling of sexual confusion.

Hell no. Cedrics vocal melodies elevate the songs to heights they wouldn't reach without him. Besides, I bet Cedric has input into the musical side too.

Watch some interviews of Omar and Cedric, you'd be surprised. The impression they give is that Omar doesn't even let any of the other band members hear the records before they are done. They don't even get to know what parts they are recording or how they will be used. The Mars Volta is Omar's show from start to finish, Cedric just gets a backstage pass.

Although I agree, Cedric's vocals are essential to their sound. Just he isn't important to the writing process or conception of their records.

I never listened to In/Casino/Out the whole way through, but if this is 95% and In/Casino/Out is 100%, I guess I should listen all the way

This album does pack a shit load of energy, which I love
