The St. Anger music vid is still badass

| |
Only tolerable thing about this album
|
| |

Too much crying for my taste
|
| |
mustaine crying up a storm. could be the best part

I'm not a huge Metallica fan, but I'm doing my due diligence here: I can't get over the drums on this record. It sounds like Lars has a trash can but no kit. It's very Slipknot of them.

yeah at least 3 or 4 good ones here, tho i'm not sure i've ever actually even listened to it all the way through

"It's very Slipknot of them"
The slipknot thing was the name of the game in the early 00's and it was paying off big time. The trash can was Metallica's effort to stay relevant, i guess.

they even said in 2003 that guitar solos are outdated, i mean how much more insecure can you get?
|
| |
They also said bass was outdated in 1988

bass has always been outdated in the mind of most musicians

Hardcore punk has been single-handedly keeping talented bassists employed since the 80s.

Honestly a few on here like title track and Frantic had potential to be bangers, but obviously this was a trainwreck as it was released.

What would it sound like if a Death Metal band re-recorded this album? Imagine the title track, St. Anger, with the same drum and guitar sound, but there's a guy growling over it, someone like Chris Barnes from Six Feet Under? Imagine it.
Rah RahRah Rah Anger Rah, (pots and pans play the same beat over and over and over)
am madly in anga rah rah rah rah rah (patented, bizarre Chris Barne's shriek here)
Just imagine.

i gotta tell ya that sounds pretty awful
|
| |
I feel my world shake
Like an Earth Quake
It's hard to see clear
Is it me? Is it fear?

"they even said in 2003 that guitar solos are outdated"
Wow I love metallica now.
