"I'm with you Simon. Ashes is a monument to conveying story, emotion, and atmosphere through the medium of music. It truly is a perfect album."
I completely agree with you there although ive been witholding the 5 rating from it due to its last track but i might have to say fuck it and give it to it anyway because every other track is a masterpiece.

I have a hard time paying attention throughout this album too. Its the only Agalloch album that I have this problem with which is why it is easily my least favourite. I always find myself zoning out or getting a little bored near the end

I like the ambient track. Not to mention it makes perfect sense in the context of the album.

I used to have the same problem with this Scream. It used to bore me at times. Not so much anymore though. Also, The Hawthorne Passage is one hell of an instrumental.

Pale Folklore is still easily the best Agalloch for me.

I dont see how anybody can put this over Ashes. I can usually understand why someone would like something more even when i disagree with it but here it just totally and completely escapes me.

K listening to this and the music is awesome, the singing parts are awesome, but I dont understand why it has to be ruined by the faggy growl/whisper whatever the fuck this guy uses as his voice when he's not singing clean.

that's good you are finally getting around to listening to this Hans. There are a lot of songs that don't have that 'faggy whisper/growl' that you mentioned so keep listening and combing through them

Odal is really awesome. Probably because there arent any faggy vocals.

I dont think John Haughm's black metal vocals are the best, but his clean voice is one of my favorites, and I like the faggy whispering thank you very much.

The instrumentals on this are great. The cleans are great. Gets a little long for me and I despise the non clean vocals. Im all for metal vocals but not this kind. Still, overall its pretty good as a unified piece.
