Things aren't quite as easy as that when it comes to anything that includes the issue of image, though. I mean to some degree yeah obviously, duh.

But there are certainly people that listen to music/pretend to listen to music to "fit in" with a scene or somesuch shit.

As for the repetition - so what? Proper discourse is built on revisiting points. If you don't dig that, whatever - look at other threads.
