I think the whole world of rock and roll is often easily impressed by anything that tries to presents itself with this much grandeur. Honestly dark side is relatively mellow if compared to even pink floyd's 60s material, at least as far as the experimental side is concerned and imho they would do this style better on their next album (WYWH)

When it comes to 60s for a quick dip into some essential stuff I highly recommend 'The In Crowd - The Ultimate Mod Collection From The Original Style Movement 1958 - 1967' but having just checked it on Amazon it's £110.
