I liked Burden, but not really any of the next three tracks.

Underrated album. Doesn't TOUCH Akerstache's masterpieces of Cock Rock from the 1980's, though. He needs to collab with Stephen Wilton again.

"this is one of their most cohesive records really, thematically and by extent musically."

Big fan of this album and even I disagree with this haha

Musically it's not their most cohesive. Also water is wet.

Drums are bliss.

I never read the lyrics so I can't comment on that, you might be on to something.

This probably has the greatest per-listen rating variance in Opeth's discography for me, in fact I've changed it a few times because some days I love this more than others. Always very, very good though. I guess it just depends on my mood.

If I ever listen to this again, may have to give them a gander. Any source of analysis of them?

Blackwater Park, always was always will be. I haven't jammed Deliverance, Morningrise and their first album but I've jammed the rest. I don't really care about the band until Blackwater tbh.
