I very much doubt it would have been as good as this or WYWH turned out to be. The way I'm imagining it, it would have sounded awkward af with three lengthy pieces two of which relate to each other and one which has a completely different theme and atmosphere.

i doubt they sounded exactly the same on the sessions as they sound on wywh/animals

Yeah obviously, that's just how I'm imaging it, it's difficult not to think of those songs as sounding like we know them to sound.

really interesting discussion here but I think it goes without saying things worked out perfectly. regardless of how well they could have strung those songs together, half of the driving force of Wish and Animals is the identity associated with them through their concepts
nothing is more frustrating then a "concept album" that has a thematically/conceptually unrelated song or two thrown in

they probably werent as up front as they are now, but they were still called "You've Got to Be Crazy", "Raving and Drooling" and "SOYCD" so they definitely had the same concepts
