::Larry david voice:: ehhhhhh
Yes it does :-/
Some parts drag on like a lot and the songs don't really flow into each other in the way that they usually do

Yeah, I don't see a lot of parts on here that drag and I also think that the songs flow pretty well, except when it's intended that they don't, like in the case of Coil-->Heir Apparent. For example, the transition from Lotus Eater to Burden works amazingly well considering how both songs are on extreme opposite ends of their sound. I agree that the album is all over the place and inhomogeneous, but the songs flow pretty well despite that.
I still think this is a rather inconsistent release, but only for their standards. Porcelain Heart and Hex Omega fall a bit flat for me (those are the reason why this is the weakest of my four Opeth 4.5s) but everything else is entirely convincing imo

Hex Omega is so damn great.
Especially that outro omggggggg

The riffs that set the foundation for it are great, but I don't like the verses/bridge parts so that's what lets it down for me

I should really listen to Sorceress, 6 or 7 weeks till the gig, maybe? Leaving it late.

Sorceress is pretty good the problem for me is that i kind of over played every song because i wanted to like it a lot more than i did, at the end i was just "meh" on it, and i started getting sick of the songs lel, the best song on it imo isnt even on the album, its the bonus track Spring MCMLXXIV

If you couldn't stand Pale Communion, I don't see you liking Sorceress. It's way heavier than the two before it though, although I don't think that will really help its case.

'way heavier' lol
Porcelain Heart is the only song here that feels lazy

If you don't think that Sorceress is "way heavier" than Heritage and Pale Communion, I don't know which album you listened to but it isn't the Opeth one.
And I'm not saying it's a metal album, but over half of the album is heavier than any song on the two before it.

Porcelain Heart and Hex are my least fav here but everything else is solid gold.

Tracks 1-3 = Some of Opeth's best material 4/5
Burden = Cheesy, almost cringe-worthy melodramatic ballad 2/5
Porcelain Heart = Dull and forgettable 2/5
Hessian Peel = Back to the quality of the first 3 tracks 4/5
Hex Omega = Good but almost completely forgettable once it's finished 2.5/5

don't understand why they didn't put derelict herds on here. it's seriously better than most of the tracks that made the cut.
