@hawks i bring up ben's meltdowns because in the jags/browns games in particular (aka the two of these past 5 losses we were actually supposed to win)... the 7 first half turnovers in those two games were the biggest reasons we dug those holes and lost those games. even though the defense sucked too you just have no chance when your offense is letting the opposing defense score TDs too.

i've always very much felt like the sb xliii game winning drive kinda clouded the fact that ben was simply not a very great postseason qb and tomlin got a lot of unjust criticism drawn his way because of that. (39 total TDs to 28 INTs and 8 fumbles in 23 playoff games, also pretty sure he holds the record for most playoff pick 6s... and this guy is gonna be a hall of famer lol).

2021-2023 was peak tomlin elevating the team to wildcard contention against all odds. just can't fault him not beating mahomes and allen on the road with those teams lmao even if they came out a little flatter than you'd like.

difference this year is we legitimately were a really good team in october/november... and unlike most of december this team was as healthy as they'd been in months for this playoff game, and for the first time in just as long... actually played mistake free on both sides of the ball (giving up 300 rush yds to two hall of famers aside)... and against an opponent we play all the time and have quietly owned in the 2020s.

tomlin's a great coach (his regular season track record more than speaks for itself) but this one more than any other recent playoff loss feels squarely on him and him alone.

Congrats Manatea, great team effort. Good for LA too under the circumstances. Out of the three favoured home teams (ignoring Ravens @ Bills which should be a belter) the Rams have the best shot for me. Like Hawks said they've done it, Stafford has done it... maybe they won't crumble under the pressure? Hopefully at least give the Eagles a decent game because this wildcard round was pretty thin on entertainment value (outside of the one game everyone appeared to think would be close beforehand).

historic choke job from darnold these past two weeks... can't put it any other way. cost himself a 9 figure contract potentially and feels extremely unlikely he returns to minnesota now... which feels kinda disappointing because this roster is clearly good but its pretty unlikely mccarthy is as good as darnold was coming off his injury next season.

also... i know the rams won the super bowl just three years ago but besides mcvay/stafford/kupp the current team kinda hasn't done it before. they've got the youngest/cheapest defense in the entire league right now and while they've balled for much of the season they did give up 37 to philly in november.

will be rooting for them but i'd be kinda surprised if they made it any further. def would need a rough game from hurts to do it.

To be so strong the entire year and to turn into a pumpkin when it mattered most twice in a row. Can't say I'm dissappointed (Go Lions!) but I still kinda feel for Vikings fans.
