One must be pretty deaf to actually consider giving this the lowest possible rating. Just for its contribution to music in general this deserves to be respected and honored with more than a 1.0 rating.

The guitar solos in time and money alone, are just a reason for giving this album more than 1.0

One of the silliest questions ever asked.

You can never call something "obvious" in here... Nothing is obvious until it is proven the other way.

Chuck if it helps when I was around 13 I heard this for the first time and for me back then it was a borderline 1 for the following reasons.
It sounded incredibly dated like someone going through the archives and picking out some relic that was revered but whose magic had long since past its sell by date.
There was no excitement, it was just noodling from dinosaurs who didn't have a clue.
It didn't soar or reach any crescendo or 'speak' to me.

I think one of the funniest things on sput is the attempt to troll-proof the sacred cows.
Freedom of speech: yes.
Freedom to rate an established classic 1/5: no

"or 'speak' to me."
ironic, innit?
yeah fair enough. truthfully when i first heard this around the same age, i cant remember what my first impressions were. but i know soon thereafter floyd became my favorite band and gilmour completely changed how i felt and played the guitar.
i'm open to all opinions and i sort of find the fact it's against the rules to rate any album whatever you want kind of lame, but i think that rule was probably put in place because of troll accounts. but at the same time i think when one's opinion is so clearly different than the majority it's worth sharing your reasoning.

Part of me is amused at the idea that without safeguards the highest pink Floyd rating on the site would go down to a 3.7 thanks to organised troll campaigns...but then I do understand the logic.
You want that top 200 albums staying pretty settled rather than the new Grimes gatecrashing the All Time Top 10 with 100 votes or whatever

this is completely reasonable. idk who we're talking about but I think people should be free to rate something whatever they feel is right but at the same time, this is a forum where music is discussed so yeah, agreed with the above

if trolls ran the site the site would implode and lose meaning, not amusing in the slightest to me
