This is great, but Still Life keeps my attention through the whole thing a lot more, of course Burden is freaking amazing though

Still Life is more consistent, yeah, but this one is more diverse. I definitely prefer Still Life, but this one is still amazing. 6th place on my Opeth ranking

Yeah I love the quirky nature of this one, interesting album. Not one of their absolute finest but who cares.

I essentially feel like they were looking for new things to reach after Ghost Reveries being ground-breaking to their discography due to the inclusion of keyboards as a main instrument. To follow that up was a hard task and they knew it, so they threw all kinds of genres together, from jazz over flamenco and chamber music, which makes it seem kinda arbitrary in places (in the "which kind of thing haven't we done yet?" kinda way), but it's amazing how well it works, considering what an unsettling feeling of unpredictability it creates.

The problem was ... after that there wasn't anything new they could do with the style because they did it all on here, so they had to change their style.

Listening to this album you would never think Mike was getting bored of metal. Heir Apparent alone is so ferocious. None of the metal parts here sound phoned in.

I don't think this is as good as any of their albums prior to this. It is still a good album but it doesn't click with me like the rest.

The ending of Burden might be the worst thing Opeth has ever done
