One team has completely dominated since HT of Chargers @ Texans. That was a good tight half, gave me false hope (I don’t mind a defensive battle if it’s an even contest, in fact sometimes it’s preferable!)

Lamar and Allen are somewhat worth the price of admission alone, but I’d like them to have been challenged a little more

shouldn’t surprise anyone wc weekend usually sucks and has only gotten worse with the expansion to 14 teams. chargers/texans was enjoyable for the yakety sax factor + slight upset i guess. i did have bucs/commies down as potentially the most fun game tho. could get high flying

saved by the Bucs and Commies as many predicted, enjoyable watch!

tonight's game should be solid too, actually kind of fancied the Rams until they had to move the game. Now I'm unsure. It'll probably be the Vikes but close (hopefully) because I can see Darnold making a mistake or two

State Farm stadium is only a 5 and half hour drive from Sofi I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference.

yeah, but doesn't playing in your own stadium offer more of an advantage regardless of geographical proximity? I'm assuming you're saying that due to expecting the same level of support for the home team. Doesn't familiarity, less disruption to their preparation etc. also potentially make a difference here?

rams haven't benefited much from home field advantage statistically since moving to Sofi. they suffer just like the raiders and chargers do from really mixed crowds and dont have a rabid fanbase in LA to begin with. A 5.5 hour move to a stadium they already have familiarity with on top of maintaining a neutral weather site should not impact people's predictions. the cold weather teams with raucous fan bases like the chiefs and packers would be a different story tho

Fair enough. Considering the Rams have only recently moved there, it makes sense that they wouldn't necessarily have huge support in L.A. but the geographical nuances with regards to fanbases are otherwise lost on me generally. The dome thing is a great point too, hadn't thought of that.

To me it's still amusing that a 5 hour drive is seen as no big deal and relatively 'close', finding it hard to adjust when I'm from a comparatively tiny land mass, lol

yea i almost made a "European mind cant comprehend" joke. our transportation system and car culture is so fucked here lol. but yea 5 hours is nothing, just to give you an idea about how crazy distances are i live in the same state as the Raiders yet their stadium is 7 hours from me and i make that drive a few times a year no problem lol. last time i made it it was $68 bucks total in gas 🇺🇸

feel like we've been eulogizing the steelers for over a month now so not really much new to say on where they're at.

will say tomlin's complete lack of spine in these playoff games is getting old. punting on 4th and 2 or less three times in the first half, calling timeouts within two minutes when the ravens were more than happy to run out the clock and letting them score as a result, having watt and highsmith nonsensically sell out on the RB only to let lamar run free play after play after play... honestly one of the worst first halves of coaching i've ever seen from him. doesn't even have a big ben meltdown to hide behind this time.

the ravens are a great team who are clicking on all cylinders and at this point of the season completely outmatch us and its mindboggling he wouldn't treat them as such. just insane to me how he completely clams up and gets conservative when we beat this exact team earlier in the season precisely because we were aggressive.

random thoughts on the rest of the games:

- i get the texans have a great defense but herbert's performance was completely indefensible. if you're actually a top 5 qb you gotta show a bit more than that against a team you were favored to beat. also feel no different about the state of the texans offense which continues to frustrate even when stroud & nico are cooking.

- sucks this game wasn't closer but denver had an awesome season all things considered.

- with the packers losing my preseason sb pick of chiefs/packers is dead. sucks love was hurt but their defense really stepped up and it sucked for love not be able to take advantage. kinda feels like they stalled out a bit after last season when it seemed like the sky was the limit

- daniels is that guy and this washington team seems to be on the same trajectory as green bay/houston last season. tough way to lose for the bucs and interested to see where they go from here, especially if the OC leaves for a head coach job for the second year in a row as bowles's defenses continue to underperform.

Agreed with all of this except the Ben part. He's the only reason (and James Harrison) that Tomlin even has a championship. And the reason he got to 2 more AFC championship games. But yeah, tired of all the Tomlin nonsense and it came out yesterday that he is indeed staying just like I said earlier in the thread. Will be the same result next year. I say give Justin Fields the keys to the offense and see what he can do. Can't be any worse than what happened this year. If it doesn't work draft a quarterback in 2026. This fucking sucks.
