First time listening to this band. Could do with less blast beats at times and it's not 100% my thing, but it's objectively pretty fucking awesome.

>Could do with less blast beats
Woah strongly disagree. I find this album way too sluggish. Exhale The Ash [2]

imo i think it could actually be better with less blast beats and fast drumming. the whole soundscape is more melodic than ever so while i appreciate them leaning into intensity sometimes i think a slower doomier sound could work really well for them

Well then it shouldn't have fewer blast beats if it's not your thing. You should just adapt and accept the beating

they have bad taste

that’s the first I’m seeing of that, it’s literally one of the best songs on here imo

Inversion took me the longest to get into out of everything here but yeah, rules.

while my rating is def sticking i am kind of surprised at how overwhelmingly loved this is with the production that it has

Ulcerate has always been a bit of a sput staple tho haven't they?

Staple on pretty much any metal focused site like this yeah
But I think this album by far has their worst production (doesn’t bother me one bit but I know a lot of people here value production) so in that sense it’s slightly perplexing that so many people are calling it their definitive effort

Production feels like somebody attempting to imitate Marstonmania. Sounds nice and clear, but there's a real sacrifice in impact/aggression
|
| |
it's their least poor production so far

I don't know, for me it sounds very different depending on which format I listen to. I am not fond of how it sounds on Spotify (rather sterile) but the vinyl sounds huge, massive, clear and cavernous... I love the sound of this on vinyl!!

Admittedly I don’t have it on vinyl so I can’t speak for it, but the CD and digital versions both feel equally flat and weak
