still have to say Sowing Season is their best album opener. that's truly the proper way to "start big". probably my favorite BN song ever still. But Lit Me Up is brilliant and is a complete 180 in terms of opening an album...so soft and eerie.

When the music falls away between the first chorus and second verse, and you hear the heretic line with the heavy effects, to me that is the pinnacle of everything they've done. Goosebumps head to toe every damn time, and a perfect bookend to Batter Up at the end of the album.



I've played Lit Me Up for a people who've never listed to Brand New outside of the few singles they've heard on the radio and every time you see them perk up and ask who the hell it is, then I gotta tell them the sad news that there won't be any more music from these guys.

Oh but it is. As much as i like the rest of the album, i wish they tried to fuck around with more atmospheric stuff like that rather than go down the safe path they took. But who knows, it might not have been as good if they did so w/e. I love this so i cant really complain.

Have to agree with Adolf - Lit Me Up snuck into my top 5 BN songs of all time. It's definitely the best song on this album, even though In The Water is pure aces.
