no filler
Mantras the closest thing to filler but it’s not annoying and it kinda sets the mood for schism.

Faaip de Oiad is the only song I consider filler on this. There was really no reason to even include that song and there's also no reason to ever listen to it.
Despite that, I still consider this a 5. I mean maybe a 4.9 if we're being really technical but eh, the actual songs on here are too good for me to rate this lower.

Fapp de Old is really creepy and unsettling, I hate it but it's still better than Viginty.

Faaip freaked me the fuck out when I was 12 listening to this album for the first time lol

Same actually. I was probably 14 or 15 when I first heard it, plus I was tripping so it was amplified a lot. I just remember hearing it come on and got kinda confused and I was like "aliens? I don't want to think about aliens, I might really go crazy...wait, they're hiding aliens? Shit, I think I just went crazy". Brief mindfuck for the duration of the song lmao
But idk, I just feel like it doesn't fit with the album. It's just kind of there and definitely not something that you wanna replay, except maybe on rare occasions. Kinda weird to me that their interludes and such are usually so annoying. I mean they can clearly write good instrumentals, plus they come up with all kinds of sick jams in between songs at their shows. So idk why they don't do shit like that for their interludes.

Anyone ever listened to that radio show? Pretty entertaining stuff. Used to listen to it at work sometimes

which radio show?
I'm kind of ambivalent on Tool's interludes, I think they're pretty amusing for the most part, though of course I wish they just had more actual material.

Oh the Area 51 stuff. it's a bit before my time and I'm not too familiar with it, thought it was a total hoax, it's pretty interesting though.

The story was a hoax (well obviously lol) but it's a real call. Pretty sure it was Coast to Coast AM the call was made to.
I've listened to that radio show a few times but not a fan of it. They talk about a lot of pseudo-scientific nonsense and conspiracy theory shit, idk, I'm not into that kind of stuff.

I just think the show is funny. That's enough to make me listen

That call was interesting though, dude sounded really scared and panicked. Mixed with Adam Jones doing his thing and Danny Carry going off... pure gold.

I can see that. I used to be entertained by that kind of stuff, and I guess some shit is still funny to me like flat earth nonsense, but I had a few friends who were super deep into conspiracy shit and it just got super irritating.
Like I'd try to rationalize with them and my one dude was like "Bro you gotta dig deeper into YouTube". Really? I think we're starting to zero in on your problem... But they'd talk about it all the time, a conversation about music would turn into a conversation about government plots and shit. Ironic to use that example in a music review thread lol but eh, fits with the topic at least haha
