idk maybe it's cause i've listened to this one so much but each song has like it's own thing going on and the new one didn't sound like it had something special going on, like it was just re-hashed riffs

yeah but the riffs on the new one are easily some of the best they've put out

Wow his vocals on the new track sound a lot like they did live, only more fitting due to the better-surrounding instrumentation. I don't like his more yappy style, though--it reminds me too much of like Dani Filth or other singers that try to do skrams when their voices physically can't do skrams like that. He needs to do less higher stuff, more shout/growling.

Yeah, not bad.

I have a feeling that their next record will be them playing it safe though.

I guess that isn't a bad thing, but I'd like to see these guys expand upon what they laid out on this and Roads to Judah.

I feel as though it is an expansion. They still keep the Sunbather flair with some nice bm vocals and some amazing growls (just needs a little more). The first half almost sounds CoB-esque. Last half is like a more polished Sunbather. I have listened to it on repeat on my four hour drive. Don't judge me lol

I don't see many similarities between songs but I also can't tell you how many times I've spun this record. I think DFHVN is more of a love them or loathe them type band, with the majority in the loathe category. I remember first time I heard it last summer I was like wtf is this. Kept listening and felt the magic. It's made its way up to being one of my favorites. It's most powerful when listened to as a whole and with great headphones. I guess I'm like a mom with septuplets. To everuone else they look the same, but I can tell them apart and know the personalities. I guess that's the only way to put it.

I'm more in the "wtf is this" category and yet to feel the magic, few more spins required perhaps

Oh please. This was the most talked-about metal record of the year and it got fantastic reviews from critics. It was only a vocal minority of elitists and contrarians that complained about it.

I legitimately don't understand the point of solos.
