any fan of this album really needs to hear Jeff's solo albums, at least Jittery Joe's, that album is every bit as essential as this, provides a nice perspective

You know what really drives me crazy?

Listening to college kids play Neutral Milk Hotel covers, and singing in a style that mimics Jeff Mangum's voice. I see these kids on my school campus ALL THE TIME.

I really don't get why people do this. They're not adding any unique quality to the song, and therefore do nothing to make their version of the song worth listening to. They're doing (if they're good) what is the equivalent of playing the song on a stereo. What's the point?

I have nothing against playing cover songs; I play a lot myself. But I perform songs in my own voice. I don't pretend to be Jeff Mangum, because I'm not Jeff Mangum.

Anyway, I like this album.
