Billy heard the drumming on their earlier records and really went “alright I’ll do that but even better”

Billy is probably the quote-unquote best drummer these guys ever had, but idk if his playstyle has ever made me want to smash shit in quite the same way Pennie's did. His Panasonic Youth drum playthrough on yt is somehow one of the most visceral things I've heard from them full stop

yeah Johnny I agree, but I think that their material was generally just more aggressive then.

Like, obviously they never got soft or anything, but I do think after Miss Machine they let off the gas a little bit, and that might be because Chris left.

I actually like the drumming on Ire Works the most but I think that was someone else entirely

Gil Sharone. Dudes a beast.

I think he’s usually a session drummer but he’s played on Marilyn Manson records, and I know for sure he was on the new Jerry Cantrell record.

I have never listened to a DEP album in full. Picked this up on CD - good place to start?

Definitely a great place to start. This album is a great summation of their first 3 albums' sounds

Honestly I think One of Us is the Killer is probably the most accessible they ever got.

This is the better record fs but that’s where I got into the band
