Nice bump Trif, most welcome.

I’m contemplating demoting GR and giving this/Morningrise pride of place at the top. It’s hard pulling the trigger on such things, but I’m reevaluating a lot of my ratings during this time and it’s one I’m considering.

Haha, it's so enormous agreed. Still haven't gotten used to it. I leisurely open the page, expecting some nice Sputting going on, and BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

My top four will always consist of Morningrise, MAYH, GR and Heritage, in whatever order I feel like at the moment. So demoting GR wouldn't make me happy.

As amazing as GR is, there isn’t much separating it from what came before. This and Morningrise are distinct enough for their greatness to coexist. Maybe I just decided Harlequin isn’t all it’s cracked up to be... probably this tbh.

Arms Hearse does a better job of presenting the story with its lyrics woven into the tale with a greater visual interpretation of what’s gong on. Ripples on water and what not.

My Arms Your Hearse is next. Maybe tomorrow or so. I'm doing closer looks at the story based concept albums I own

Yeah well I figured this is certainly better than a lot of the 4.0s among the new releases I check. So that puts things in perspective.

Yeah it's complicated. Do you rate them against all other albums or just other Opeths?

My fave is probly MAYH

A great pick. And yeah, I switch between the two rating strategies a little. This was an ''against all others''-decision. The 4.0 would be against their other records.

I said it as a piss take in relation to one of the last comments on the Blackwater Park thread.

Unfortunately you brats are thick as shit can’t join dots.
