I'm constantly searching for my own tool's absolution.

"does the trick" lol if you're in line with "all music is a trick" then I'm on board with that statement.
It's not absolutist to accept that Tool's sound is at least unique, they don't repeat anyone's sound but their own...its ok you don't agree with their process to reach that sound, or the final product whatsoever. I knew there is still hope for you Johnny.
hagiography - I learned a new word today, so TKS - and to 5 an album from one of your favorite bands doesn't mean that. I totally don't agree with Tool's hagiography. Although I find many artists/ musical acts transcendent (trick or no trick - always a trick tho) in many ways. Some of them we share the love with.

'Good to see a lot of straight people with 4 and 5 ratings.'
'Straight' as in... no, surely not? Surely you didn't? In fact I have evidence that suggests the contrary.

Well he didn't mean me.

Seriously though should we report him? Hmm...

It's a totally uncool statement so we definitely could.

Concerning the reporting: I never know when something went too far or when it was tasteless but acceptable.

ahahahah I guess it was my bad...he just said the high ratings were straight (like one after the other) with one or other minor interruptions...it was me that derailed the perception to my own sexual taste in human criteria.
|
| |
Hmm yeah, that's a possibility too. I didn't really know how to interpret that first comment.
|
| |
Tbh I read that comment weirdly too - it'd be a straight lot[/row] of people if it was one after the other, no?

Heh sorry lol am trying to write/track a solo :[
Although everything else about his style bores me to tears, I will give Adam Jones props for being a solid af rhythm player. Am jealous. Pity Tool didn't really need another rhythm player given their bass/drum setup...
"It's not absolutist to accept that Tool's sound is at least unique, they don't repeat anyone's sound but their own...its ok you don't agree with their process to reach that sound, or the final product whatsoever."
Yeah got no qualms acknowledging Tool sound first and foremost like Tool, but there are loads of original groups whose uniqueness less than endears me to them

Adam is honestly pretty under appreciated. He’s not the virtuoso that Danny or Justin are but he’s got a clear style, great tones, and generally does what’s needed with a lot of restraint for a prog band. In general I find these guys to be very conservative in their approach for the genre which I find refreshing compared to most over the top prog

I loosely agree on that with respect to older Tool, but his 'style' here is leftover Sabbath riffs + palm mutes, and the tones on this album are mostly trash
