yeah if ar didn't bomb out i could see a team forcing milroe in the 1st. those days feel over now though. but if he does someone is getting fired lol
and milton flashed more accuracy in his one start than ar has literally ever shown lol

"End of an Error. Peep page 159-160 for my original thoughts about pierce and Tt. Also peep the usual suspects acting like the know football. Great milroe write up man!"
lmao right here reich
while i ofc am not gonna act like i didn't actually think those things... i was also absolutely trying to play devil's advocate to the doomer perspective you have for your team.
will obviously take the L on pierce... but telesco in his only draft just made easily the best raiders first round pick in a decade? also seemed to draft a very solid guard in the 2nd? not gonna act like i know your team better than you but i'm missing where the malpractice was with that hire... even seems like the team subreddit thought he was doing a good job based on a quick scroll

getting a gm and coach in alignment is crucial. had to do it even if he had a good draft, it's a business. just weird it happened on separate days which makes it seem dysfunctional. brady knows and he is gonna do what it takes to win.
still not a great job but opens you up to better candidates theoretically.
|
| |
oh absolutely. completely understand why he was fired and if it makes the difference in them getting ben johnson or pete carroll or whoever than its a win. however, there's also a very realistic world where the raiders will be downgrading at gm. the chargers never won shit with telesco but they were nearly always stacked with talent and drafting really good players for a team that also quietly has shitty/cheap ownership.
also... based on the way jordan ran the hornets... i think tom needs to prove he knows what he's doing before we treat him like some pat riley type figure.
|
| |
well yes of course but having this most likely first move with his influence is a very positive sign for the future.
but still they ain't getting ben johnson lol
|
| |
could certainly work out but firing a guy who has drafted pro bowlers in the first round of 7/12 drafts he's presided over as gm, after one year on the job working with a head coach he did not select iirc when you have a roster as barren as the raiders' just seems maybe a little toooo bold right off the bat?
tho also not sure you'd want the guy who hired mike mccoy, anthony lynn, and brandon staley in charge of your head coach search either, but that also might be an improvement over the guys mark davis typically gets
kinda excited to see if brady can fix the team he ruined in the tuck rule game lmao.

The narrative around TT was always that he could make the obvious draft picks but could not hit on depth picks/fa signings-go browse the charger subs. Hiring the sloppy seconds of a division rival was silly from get. That’s why I was against it immediately I didn’t need to see what he did/didn’t do with us. Gms often don’t need changes of scenery and suddenly they’re successful. He didn’t get it done with our rivals how the hell was he going to get it done here? Which yea is the justification for my “doomer” attitude. We need someone brighter than Tt to run the show. Naturally, he repeated the same mistakes McD/Ziegler in handing the keys over to a journeyman qb instead of trading up for a qb that could save his job. He was literally brought here to find a qb in an insanely qb rich draft and couldn’t do it.
Love the jpj pick but with bowers, how much credit should someone get for drafting a consensus stud player whose career will be wasted without a qb? Matt Millen would love a word. Ok so the falcons play spoiler and pick your guy/no one wanted to trade up with you, bummer time for plan B build around aoc. Oh wait you don’t have a plan B do you, I guess we take an 8-9 team and turn them into a 3 win team. A team that won too many games to tank for the mid QBs available in this draft. You’re fired.
I’m sorry I’m just not going to give credit to a guy who is slightly smarter than the idiots Davis has given the keys to in the past-which let’s be honest here- we’re mostly talking about Gruden. Although we could probably mention Ziegler not drafting Carter or Gonzalez. I’m sure telesco would have? I’ll give him that much? but let’s be real wouldn’t any of us have drafted them over Tyree Wilson? I’d like a gm that not only makes the obvious draft picks but perhaps finds a way to win more games than the previous regime.
|
| |
Also is it really being a doomer when I’m right? Im not pretending I’m some galaxy brain and I’m mostly just giving you and user purple shit, but come on now. Having realistic expectations especially after decades of watching the Davis family repeat the same mistakes is hardly being a doomer.

nailed it reich. plan b being uhhhhhhh well fuck guess it's aoc a guy with a .1% chance of being a franchise qb and oh lets give a decent contract to fucking gardner minshew well we're at it is just hysterical and fireble in itself. very well thought out! this qb class is looking all time and the raiders did jack shit and now have a bad pick in a bad qb draft. set up for success!

In other news my game on Monday got moved to Arizona. Been pretty much doing nothing but volunteer work the last few days. I know the Rams don’t have the best market but I hope this whole situation in LA motivates them to win a game or two here…
Pray for LA friends, my beloved city is fucking burning…

i mean... i will absolutely give credit to telesco for drafting bowers, who had the best rookie TE season in decades, after he got absolutely obliterated for it by the fans and media. especially when most rookie TEs struggle and other recent "can't miss" te prospects like njoku and pitts turned out to be mid / ass.
and in terms of qb situation... i'm not sure what they could've really done differently besides i guess outbid atlanta? you had the 13th pick and 6 qbs got drafted before you... that's just awful luck and a complete anomaly in nfl history all things considered. minshew (who was a dropped pass away from leading the colts to the playoffs last season) was a fine bridge option at the time. aoc... maybe not so defensible. would you have rather gotten cousins? kept jimmy g? even guys like darnold and russ feel like 20/20 hindsight. just don't see how it turns out any differently given the kind of coach and locker room leader pierce ended up being.

totally get the sloppy seconds thing... but also... making and hitting on "obvious" high draft picks is still something the large majority of the gms in this league struggle to do with his consistency, and that's the best and most cost efficient way to build a good team. his black mark is he went 0/3 on hiring a coach who could take advantage.

am I insane to think that flipping Bowers now for like 2 firsts and a mid round pick is something the raiders consider? TEs are insanely volatile I feel like.

@unc thanks man I appreciate it. I don’t feel right living in an area that’s totally unaffected (besides worse than usual air quality) and not trying to help people out who lost everything

Some of the videos I've seen of the wind spreading the fire are actually insane. Thoughts are with ya Manatea and everyone in the area. I have family that used to live in greater LA so I'm very familiar with some of the areas impacted and the resulting loss of this is kind of unfathomable.

I’ve lived in LA my entire life and I’ve never experienced wind like that. We’ve had wind and we’ve had fires but this is unprecedented. On top of that some asshole went and started a fire right next to the area where I grew up. Fortunately he was arrested and the fire was contained but the whole situation is just heartbreaking.
Also Karen Bass needs to lose her fucking job.
