Ed's responsible for a lot of the backing textures in their music so a solo album by him sounds very intriguing.

We'll see if he can right a ship without Thom. For our sakes, I hope so.

The last four song run is so easily the most enjoyable part of this. Every time I listen I have my doubts this is a 4.5, half way through Identikit usually (a song I don't really love all that much)...then The Numbers comes in and you're all set.

I think this album being severely backloaded has harmed its popularity more than anything else.

i feel like the fact that this album is so plain is what has kept itt down :[ like most 'heads are groweres and thiss is just face value blandness

Row I don't really see how someone can rate the ultra-wafty-but-nice new Bon Iver a 4.5 and this a 3 and accuse this of being too dull - but it just goes to show the tiniest differences can turn someone on or off an album

it's mostly than Bon Iver in the context of his discography is pushing and trying new things and tinkering while Radiohead in the context of theirs couldn't have made a plainer, less experimental, duller album than this

also Bon Iver just has better songs on it tbh

Ed Identikit is a strange one for me, I don't think it's bad it's just the last 'cold' song before the album warms up in tone on the last four songs - maybe it suffers for that.

For me Burn the Witch is warm then the album feels cold up to Identikit

Innovation is great but isn't a prerequisite of great music imo but I know that goes against a lot of sput philosophy

Ok computer was not innovative at all. And Kid A isn't actually good.

It's still quite innovative, the use of strings to such a huge degree is pretty unique to Radiohead and this genre in general. They're the main personality of the album here, that's unexpected.
