I can only listen to Trouble Will Find Me cause I've overplayed the hell out of the rest. If a new National record comes out it will likely be the only one I spin, and the cycle continues.

I am reasonably sure it'll come next year, but the El Vy record should hold me till then.

Boxer is easily the weakest of the 4.

@boneyking its sounding pretty great from the four songs i listened to. Paul Is Alive and No Time to Crank the Sun sound very National-esque, and Return to the Moon just sounds like a poppier National. I'm the Man to Be was totally different from anything i expected though. sounds like itll be recognizable but different enough to warrant the separate project. pretty stoked actually.

Alligator is the least consistent for me. I feel like HV, Boxer, and TWFM all have impeccable pace and tracking (HV being the most realized), but then Alligator is like The National's Hail to the Thief album. Some amazing songs with a few that don't hold up or keep the flow.

HV

TWFM

Boxer (just barely under TWFM)

Alligator

The beauty of this band for me is that even if you overplay an album or two you can always take them out of rotation and start overplaying tje others until you get tired of them too by which time the others will be fresh again haha
