@Ocean of Noise
I know that it's not but honestly I had to give it a try man.

The way their later stuff sounds, they'd better not try to remaster this.

"charm"
didn't know having a crap sound could be charming tbh. They should remaster this and not let Lars get anywhere near it.

Jason said it best: "Drums come through loud and clear. Guitars come through lound and clear. Vocals come through loud and clear. I was the only one not there during the mixing. Coincidence? I'll let you decide."

the producer for the album said a while ago in an interview that Lars was the one who messed up his mixing of the album because he was determined to get the one particular drum sound he liked, which involved (for some reason?) turning the bass down the point where you could barely hear it. The rest of the production was probably their decision since the producer also guessed that they wanted a rawer sound, which is what they got. So yeah, I blame Lars. :-]

This album shows what happens when you try creating a "classic": you fail. Still a solid record but very far from expectations. 3/5

People really fail to realize how much Lars is influential in the songwriting department. I'm not like defending him for everything else, just that if Lars was replaced with someone else, the production could have been a lot better but the songs could have ended up sounding a hell of a lot more different. After all he was responsible for the way the Enter Sandman riff sounds (not that many people these days respect the song but that's just one example off the top of my head)
Edit: Lars is also the reason Enter Sandman ended up being the opening song to The Black Album. Again not that many of you guys may care but just sayin

seriously... giving this album 2/5 in a review is outrageous... and the fact he rated it 1/5 is blasphemy...

come on, I gave St. Anger 1/5. Basically, Mike is telling me this album is as bad as St. Anger? I can't believe it. I mean, it's quite tough to listen to, but the songwriting is excellent.
