Also I love Kendrick bringing in these ragged-ass unpolished guys to do verses. Both Kodak Black (don't know or care about any of his personal life) on the last record and this Peysoh dude on this one are really cool features. Also very happy he recognized SZA should be a more frequent collab, they fit perfectly, even if she could tone down the drama by like 15%

butt.

There's some weird line about indigeneity on the first track thar I can't quite parse out and fear might be something to do with that

Something that I don't get is why is there a blank line in Wacced Out Murals? Like his vocals stop. Its jarring but is there a purpose behind it?

the idea is that he said something "unspeakable" or too crazy to say on record.

he's done that quite a few times in the past... most notably on maad city. its an artistic choice rather than actual censorship (like on say, the classic eminem albums).

I thought in eminem's case it was actual legal advice that got him to blank some parts

that's probably more accurate. mostly brought that up to say kendrick prob always planned to have that part randomly blanked out. considering how one-note that song is its kind of a neat trick to get people to refocus.

Yeah that makes sense it's just kind of a bizarre choice but I'm not super familiar with some of the tropes of hip hop so I was like "what the hell was that?"

Yeah pretty sure it is something he wrote that is involved in ongoing legal shit or something he doesn’t wanna snitch about (99% certain of the omission of ‘diddy’ in cackling about ___ but all of yall are on trial). He did it with GKMC too

Reincarnated is such an incredible song. The 2Pac sample, the beast switch up, the flow, the lyrics.

Best album since TPAB, easily. I love all his work though but man... no skippable tracks.
