Easily.

As a whole this rivals some of their classic era albums for me. In fact it's actually more consistent than most of their 80's albums.

The song structures are so repetitive though, really tiring listen for me

i prefer all their first seven albums, they were very consistent too if you ask me, and bruce vocals were much, much better

still this is pretty consistent and great album overall, easily my favorite one with bruce since seventh son

A lot of their 80's albums suffered from being inconsistent, that was always the one thing holding them back.

This is easily their best since Seventh Son for me, it certainly destroys the two Blaze Bayley albums that's for sure.

i have quite an unusual opinion regarding those two albums so i wont discuss your argument

in their classic period though, the first two albums were the most inconsistent if i had to pick, but not

really if you ask me

im a big fan of 80's maiden :D

@facupm

In what regard is their debut inconsistent?

Personally I don't find any 80s Maiden inconsistent with the exception of Piece of Mind maybe. This one's awesome but I easily prefer their "classic" material.

Something that has been bothering me with post 2000 Maiden is the production tbh...

Yeah sometimes it seems as if anything is on the same level and the drums sound a bit weird. I also feel they stretch their songs too much.

Agree, plus, Bruce sounds like he recorded only one take of his parts... I can't prove it though.

Edit : 80s Maiden with Bruce had pristine production, perfectly fitting their sound.

Yup. Martin Birch was a great fit for both Maiden and Deep Purple.

In a documentary about making of The Number... Bruce was grumbling - in a positive way- about Martin asking him to repeat the opening scream on the t/t for 4 hours, until he finally nailed it :P

Man that's pretty impressive haha. Proves that hard work is as important as talent.
