it is one of the better tech death albums i've heard in that it's one of like 10 i know that doesn't register to me as complete 500notezasecond wank and has some actual melodic tendencies and feel to the playing.

First good moment of the album started at like 1:46 on Etched In Oblivion. Before that I thought there was no way ill ever make it through half of this.

Grinding wheels would have had a cool intro if they had simply removed the guitar. Seems like a huge problem so far is the guitar is just there not doing anything relatable to the rest of the band. Anything interesting is buried by an unrelated bad/lazy idea.

2:36/7 of Grinding is awesome tho. That was a nice pop

Yes! That’s the thing with this record it’s really tight but integral parts of it do not actually mesh with each other that well

I can’t relate to any complaints about the guitars. Sure there are many moments where the guitars are playing different parts but the way they weave in out of and often compliment one another is often beautiful to my ear.

Parts don't mesh? What? That's like…exactly the thing this does better than most tech death.

Sput be Sputting.

Tech death in general is lame tho so cant blame them for the album containing a quality similar to their genre.

“Also, I'm like 69% sure the bassist for JFAC is the same bassist in Nuclear Power Trio. The bass tone sounds the exact same as does the jazzy/avante-garde bass lines.“

It's 100% the same guy, and NPT needs exposure badly. They are the best instrumental metal band out there

Tried to see where this is coming from but I just don't hear it at all. It all sounds pretty cohesive to me.

I can't imagine what this sounds like to him for him to say that.

Just gave Antithesis of Light a 4.5 though so he's alright in my book XD

I liked Sun Eater. This for the first few listens... ok great... but listened to it again today and its festering hooks got me finally lol

But you're supposed to keep spinning it until it suddenly dawns on you that it is, in fact, a 4.5 at least.
