He sadly starting to remind me of how Bruce Dickinson sounds now.

I can't imagine how depressing it must be trying to keep those kind of harsh clean vocals up through your whole career and hitting an age where you just can't do it anymore and hear yourself starting to sound like ass.

I feel like I’m in the minority of thinking he sounds his best here and on The Stage

i do find City of Evil and s/t vocals *far* more annoying than these, but you can hear his vocal chords struggling here for sure.

Yea no way he sounds as good here. It's not matter of style his voice sounds so worn out and beaten here and his vocal range has lessened to like half of what it used to be. Not to mention he used to be able to growl. There is something I find charming about his voice but you can hear how hard he has to try every moment nowadays.

This album has some serius Sgt. Peppers moments so it would be pretty crazy if shadow had range he had in Nightmare. His no Lennon but props for trying.

E. He had throat surgery before COE

I can't believe that Avenged Sevenfold released one of the best albums so far this year lmao, this is such a pleasant surprise. Cosmic is such a banger.

A forward-thinking metal record with actual risks and interesting stuff going on, pretty fucking refreshing

It strikes a perfect balance between heaviness and experimentation, I'm really loving this thing

If you really think about what they are doing it sucks, but surprisingly this is very cohesive, well done and really fun. The last band I thought I would hear experimenting like this with music.

Absolute bullshit comment. Scrub perspective.

This is the first time I’ve listened to a full A7X album since their self titled and like everyone else I am surprised by how experimental a mainstream act whose been at it for over two decades was able to successfully push the envelope.

Mattel and Cosmic are my two favorites so far, but the whole thing is really unique and strangely cohesive despite doing so much. Could definitely have used another song like Mattel in the back half to carry us to the end.

Vocals are their biggest struggle here, but I am very easily able to get past that. Getting some strong Guns N Roses feelings from some of the tracks for some reason.

yeah I do think another big heavy track to close it out would have wrapped it all together a little more nicely but it doesn't suffer too much for lack thereof.

i remember knowing about the throat surgery before COE and everyone SWEARING that wasn't the reason that he sucked now but it was pretty night and day even ignoring the complete lack of harsh vocals, the nasal whine is just cranked to an 11 on that record.

I think November rain. Use your illusion shot for the moon and missed on a lot of tracks, but the vast experimentation seen on those albums I think has some presence here, mixing the heavy with the experimental and softer sides to make something new.
