'most people just listen to things they like tho, I get that that kind of deep understanding isn’t always what everyone is looking for.

I still think it’s lazy tho.'

depends really, can't someone (most people here?) fall on either side of that coin depending on what it is they're listening to? Sometimes the best way of getting into new genres is by diving in out of the blue with zero context, THEN looking for context later once you're more acclimatised (and potentially reassessing on that basis).

I just deem it highly unlikely that the majority of people (even those who reside on music forums) do their due diligence in the first instance when confronted with ANY new genre / style. They more likely only do so in retrospect / later on.

This album feels like a History Channel documentary, a thousand things were said and yet you can't remember anything.

These chaos-from-beginning-to-end albums have gotten pretty boring for me because they don't provide any remarkable moments that make you come back to the album. Everything feels samey. The chaos stops being chaos due to how frequent it is, constantly rising your hopes for a change of pace, one that never comes.

I can definitely see this as an album you listen from beginning to end as a sort of music trip, but there's literally nothing I remember about it despite having listened it thrice. The only thing I remember is the first track which sounds like the opener of Relatives In Descent but at like twice the speed.

Two stars and a half because musicianship and blah blah blah, even though musicianship alone does jackshit. What this band NEEDS is MUSICALITY.

Also ignore the previous ratings in my account, some of them are pretty stupid because I really didn't take this site seriously (to a certain extent I still don't).

I think R.E.S. is their most quintessential song and works pretty well as someone's first exposure to the band.
