TPaB trended for months because it was that kind of album, a classic that the majority of even the most snobbish of snobs couldn’t deny. I’m gonna still say this doesn’t even remotely compare to TPAB but I’ll cut Dot some slack cause that style doesn’t seem to be his mindset or his interest as an artist/human being in this stage of his life and career. Idk I can always go back and listen to TPaB and Untitled if I want that sound, but it would have been nice to see how far he could evolve the sound he picked for that moment in time, cause it struck a very particular chord with me then. I guess it did that for many. Probably not gonna change my rating for this but Kendrick will always be goated from of the work he’s already done. I can’t filter my disappointment for this record but I respect his choices and I can leave it at that. I think their are some cool sentiments and ideas on this, but it doesn’t really resonate in the way I want it to. I’m just one fan but I feel like there are many errors in execution. Makes for a sort of disjointed listen imo, but here’s hoping I love the next release. Already looking forward to it.

Piano phrasing on the first track is very well done and chord progression is so beautiful. Need to check out this dude.

Die Hard is such a jam

Love that pocket he's in when he's flowing "Do you love me? Do you trust me?"

Can I open up? Is it safe or not?

I'm afraid a little, you relate or not?

Have faith a little, I might take my time

Ain't no saving face this

[That fucking hook hits]

Big win, great track. Wish there was more to the lyrics but it's getting extra curricular spins from me for sure

yeah nothing trendier with the kids than somber piano tracks about child molestation and detailed reenactments of domestic abuse
