On Top is a gem, love the drum groove in it. Album boasts a solid rhythm section overall to be fair

You would think that they are a death metal band, but nope. They do pop these days.

Sam's Town was a big disappointment at first, but a few tracks have grown on me since

Which ones Bloc? Besides the singles I've always thought the stronger ones were Sam's Town, For Reason Unknown, Bling (Confessions of a King), and This River is Wild

EDIT: Turns out For Reasons Unknown was a single, missed that lol

The ones you mentioned are mine too, especially Bling. Love that track. Otherwise, When You Were Young is another great track

I always get sad remembering how good this band once was. I was convinced after Sam's Town came out that they were going to be one of the great bands of the 2000s. Mr. Brightside and When We Were Young are still two of the absolute best singles of the last 20 years.

So what are the musical influences behind this album's sound? I heard this as a kid with no frame of reference and to this day I still don't really know where this specific sound came from.
