those giant companies arent necessarily the be all end all though, if youre not joining one of those way overpromising startups theres plenty of comfortable midtier positions as long as you have the skills and the willingness to continue developing those skills and paying attention to new stuff

"god moving to Iceland is my dream"

I was there about six years ago. Everything was expensive-- a $20 meal in the US would cost $30+ there; beers are cocktail prices. In December, the sun didn't come up until 10AM and it set at 4PM. Businesses were open accordingly. Everything is imported.

If you're an introvert working remotely it could be a dream. Or you want to be a sheep farmer. I'm not that person. It seemed like a really really slow way of life. Nice to visit, wouldn't want to live there.

Just having a conversation. If you've been there I'd like to hear your thoughts.

And I would imagine the price increase also comes with a pay increase if you live there right? I don’t know shit about Iceland.

Universal healthcare sounds pretty nice too

I can corroborate most of this as well. Awesome place to visit, would not want to live

The clean guitar leads that pop up in Return to Passion are so fucking sick.

Almost one year on and I’m still amazed at how good this record is.

Average out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for Americans are a few thousand more than other nations, while average salaries are about 25-50% higher than OECD nations.

yeah just wait until you need to go to the ER and find out your insurance doesn’t cover all of it

Have fun paying thousands out of pocket

And does that average salary count billionaires? Because the US literally has hundreds more of those than most countries. Average salary means jack shit when the wealth disparity is as large as it is.

What a dogshit argument against M4A

My insurance literally caps ER payments at a few extra thousand out of pocket per year, and no you can select median salary we still average nearly 50% more income than most Euro nations it's literally crazy Europeans are broke as fuck outside a few exceptions plus they pay like 15-20% VAT on almost all products it's insane.

I'd change a lot of things about our medical system but as the current comparatives stand I wouldn't leave here in a million years.
