"one of my least faves, but still great!"

But it almost sounds like 90125 era YES tune. I thought you'd appreciate something like that. Also the video is pretty cool. As someone in the comments pointed out, if you only focus on Dan Briggs it's like he's playing a completely different song. xD

This album is of the quality of their finest. It stands eye to eye with Alaska, Colors, and tGM. It’s incredible for a band to come out with an album as inspired and realized as this so late in their career, and after a few LP’s of which hinted at their losing inspiration. I think that Coma, Automatas, and even Parallax to an extend began to suffer from a bit of redundancy, not totally, but the repetition began to become apparent. This album is so fresh and thriving with life, I’m so happy. At this point it feels like people who are giving this a less than 3.5 are just trying to be cool or edgy.

Sitar dude no doubt, it sounds just like it, but I just ~happen~ to enjoy the other songs a bit more. It's a great song, no question....

Well music is subjective and no one can say what is actually good and bad when you get down to it. And yeah I was wrong when I said the less than 3.5 thing. I do think this review does read higher than what was given.

It’s always the diehard prog fans that say all music is subjective lol

Finding it impossible to rank this album but Bad Habits and Sfumato/Human is Hell are definitely my favourites.

I've always understood why people would rate BTBAM 2-2.5, and I respect their opinions, but pls someone write a positive review for this already (not it)

But really tho it makes all the sense in the world that those who don’t like BTBAM wouldn’t like this, like ……… Hmmmm it’s literally called Colors II lol

If you don’t like what that first record did then clearly this won’t be your jam

Even if you did, that doesn’t automatically mean this is your jam either

They’re a very different band than they were 15 years ago, and all of our tastes have also changed a bit as well

Like, nobody who hates BTBAM on merit is gonna hear the Tom & Jerry noises in “Prehistory” & be like ahhhh yes, this is the restraint I have been hoping for lmao

If anything, Automata was for those detractors — no wonder it was their most forgettable release in ages

If anything Automata (both albums) were their most safe albums barring Voice of Trespass. I still enjoyed it quite a lot but it's one of their weaker albums for me personally.

Absolutely, Automata was neat but it wasnt very adventurous, which is kinda their MO. Which is why i was so happy when i heard this

they're actually playing it on the current tour, speaking of which, the show in Tampa is sold out, and the ticket prices have more than doubled on the secondary market since this record came out

glad to see the demand is there

God I would walk out lmao

Jk it’s not even a bad song I just can’t remember anything from it, and it’s like 15 minutes long? Idkkkkk

But ya they’re on a good trajectory rn and u love to see it, etc.
