Yeah basically I far exceeded my quota for hard ass contrarian takes and got a ticket for it, so I have to backpedal on a few things to make the world right again

I got a bundle deal saying all 70s hard rock was ass so it only counted as 1, gotta find them loopholes

What a great record, I'm still amazed that these guys pulled off such a consistent body of work after a decade of boring stuff.

And so suddenly, too. This came out just 2 weeks under a year from their previous album

This does pseudo-Springsteen better than Gaslight Anthem ever has 🤷🏼‍♂️ Still a bit inconsistent and the more pared-down songs are underwhelming in ways that e.g. NEBRASKA never was. But this is way better than I expected.

this was so dreary and dull for me unfortunately. much preferred the bombast of imploding the mirage.

also why include the interlude about a horse with a broken leg dying within a song? thats just gonna reduce your replay value

I didn't like imploding the mirage at all and was surprised everyone else seemed to like it. I think this is the best they've ever done quite easily

I think mirage has higher highs ("caution", specifically) but this hangs together wayyyyy better as an actual record

lol same with me, it's weird how one album can cast even their worst stuff in a slightly better light
