Finished this. Very impressive instrumentally and I loved the arrangements. Wish it was a little more memorable but perhaps that will come with time.

"This is the most memorable of The Ocean I think..."

Well that doesn't bode well for my intentions of checking out the remainder of their discog. Tbf though, it probably boils down to this not being my scene at all lol.

Don’t let that scare you off Sowing. Part 1 and 2 of these releases are probably the bands more accessible journeys. The rest is soul searching if you already like what you hear.

'Antropo and Helio you will probably hate, they are easily the band's worst, but check them regardless.'

Lol, well when I said 'fill in the gaps' these ones ARE the gaps, I've heard the rest of the LPs + Fogdiver. I need to revisit Pelagial in particular though. Love Precambrian and Fluxion is a good time.

both of the centrics have some great material but you can tell they were figuring out how to be a band with a frontman (Loic was kinda shoehorned into songs like Luminaries but is great on Roots and Locusts) and that the music was slave to the concept sometimes.

@Sowing just listen to disc 2 of Precambrian, I reckon it will be more of your style.

"Really damn good album but odd choice for a closer. Feels like you're hit over the head by pummeling riffs to end on such an anti-climactic note"

get the real ending track fam

I think Afroman could've laid down better vox than the metalcore Michael Bublé these guys got on the mic.

Demon, definitely check out their whole discography if you haven't already. I'm sure you'll love Fluxion, given you like CoL. Pelagial is the pleb-acclaimed one, great album, but nowhere near their best. Antropo and Helio you will probably hate, they are easily the band's worst, but check them regardless.

anthro and pelagial are both great, typical bad takes from pika

Yeah I could see this going up to a 3 at some point. It's just painfully boring at times and the vocals are underwhelming. It crushes Ohms tho which I found completely insufferable.
